What's in a name? What's in my name?

The newspaper from my old hometown began promoting its pet web site, including a database of pet names. There's also discussion of what the names mean to people.





My name did not appear in the list for felines, although I understand that it is indeed an unusual moniker. It came to me in steps: first I was Scout, because I was alert and good at helping old ladies cross the street; and then I was Sprout, because I tended to lounge around a lot and eat plants.
