others make coffee. I think the luwak (also known as the palm civet, or to ontologists under the delightful moniker Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) is a cat, although this web site suggests it has a closer relation to the mongoose. The Luwak produces coffee as a side-effect of its diet, in which it eats delicious coffee-bean cherries and poops out the indigestible beans (and yes, those beans really are nasty. I tried some of Salim's a few weeks ago, after he came back with some sour-smelling bags full from a trip). Poop! And then people brew and drink the poop! I'd rather lick my own bottom (changed from a less-delicate word after I offended the tender ears of some readers).
