From one cage to another
Sprout transferred from the San Francisco Pet Hospital to All Animals Emergency yesterday evening. Dr Morris explained that Sprout had sand-like mineral accumulation in his urinary tract, which blocked his ability to urinate. Poor Sprout: he growled and hissed when we saw him, and it took the expertise of two DVMs and several skilled vets to adjust his IV and catheter before we could move him to the new clinic.
This morning's prognois: Sprout is doing well, although not eating. He has received about half a liter of fluid intravenously, and his urine is almost clear (yesterday it was the colour of 'cranberry juice', said Dr Morris). He has new food, specific to his condition, but doesn't show any appetite. He'll probably spend another day catheterized at the clinic.
